I'm pretty excited about the present I have for Angela for graduation. It came to me while I was at C&K salon, and Amber was washing my hair --- the fairy that I'd seen earlier at Ashton Art Gallery. Except it isn't exactly a fairy. I still like it, and I think Angela will too.
I think that just celebrating this year in its own way is making Christmas easier for me. (oops! wrong journal!)
Anyway. Had fun laughing with other women while I was at Ashland Art Gallery.
Did I tell you that Shawn and Destiny came by?
I got Tyler's phone reloaded. And paid him for his work. And he came to me this morning, voluntarily, for review on his math notes for his EQT today. That was fun.
Heard back from Andrew about the Mardi Gras parade.
We have our ticket confirmation for the Black Jacket Concert.
Beverly and I got to visit a little bit yesterday.
JA is off work ... or is at home at least...right now, which is good, since today is his birthday.
Got to see Evan for a little minute.
We're set to get Willo on Christmas Eve.
I took two walks yesterday.

16-11-14 (Read 3/1/26)
Saturday just evolved as one of the best days a person could ask for. The Alabama game started at 11, and Barry called to see if the Reeds wanted to come over. Tori and Josh came right about that time, and so Beverly, JA, Ange, Josh, Tori and I (and Bentley, Bella, and Zoe) gathered up to watch the game (or play Nine's at the dining room table while Barry and JA watched the game.) The weather was pretty, so we left the patio door open most of the time. Barry ordered pizza, Beverly and JA brought some snacks. After awhile Evan, Chelsa and Jaden came over. He got lots of hugs and attention and Angela got some great pictures. Beverly said, "That baby changed my day."
There were only about half us here last night, but we got to see Kim, which doesn't happen very often, and Vivian. We were a little squisshy, maybe two seats short, but visited and had a good time. Beverly and Angela cleaned the kitchen up for me.
Beth called in and we put on speaker to sing Happy Birthday. Rodney called and he and I had a nice visit.
And I did the right thing. I've been smiling about it ever since. I'd been thinking on it. I thought maybe I should have some conversations first. Check with people. But then I didn't. Then I just did what I wanted to do and called Vivian aside, and told her about the money I donated to the scholarship fund when Tori and Morgan each graduated and that Angela is graduating, and that I thought that what I really wanted to do was help her, and that I didn't know if this amount of money would be any help, and her eyes filled up with tears, and she said that it would be half her tuition, and she just hugged me and hugged me and hugged me and thanked me and thanked me and thanked me. It was a very, very happy spot for me.
Barry made the beans for dinner and just generally helped me. It made getting ready for dinner so much more fun, so much less exhausting.
Chris and Tyler seemed to enjoy their time together, so I was happy about that. Chris has a job with a different glass company.
Noah spent Friday with us, and that was fun.
Barry had fun working with Kennedy and Angela in the pottery barn. They were using all kinds of tools and he brought out things they didn't even need because he was having so much fun watching them.

Just a really happy day for me. When I left the office Monday, I left it clear of things that needed to be taken care of before Thursday. I did the HH Bookkeeping and Home Administrative duties yesterday, as scheduled. I kept at the laundry all day, so I can get by without worrying about it today. There are some things dry / drying that can be put away, but they can also wait till tomorrow, so my mind can really be cleared of that. I really can just spend the whole day writing without hurting anybody. That's a rare treat.
When I talked to Daddy yesterday, he told me that Andrew had written "Our phone conversations mean the world to me," on the card he'd sent. Daddy said that Andrew calls him from time to time, but he hadn't realized how much the conversations meant to him. He said that Andrew's saying so meant a lot to him.
Annette sent a text yesterday to check on Beverly and Barry.
Brittany helped me with Tyler's homework. :-) I posted a question in the Goodtimes group, and she answered it --- and then the next one, and gave me really good, easy to understand answers, too.
Angela and I are counting down the days till her graduation, and got excited together yesterday that her graduation announcements had come in.
Touched base with Beth a little.
Did I tell you that Evan came over Sunday and visited with me for awhile? Chelsea came over yesterday with their weekly payment and I got to visit with her for a little bit and play with Jaden.
Shawn called Tyler yesterday, and that made Tyler happy.
Tyler said he saw Theresa and asked her how it was not tutoring Shawn anymore. She told him it made her sad that Shawn wasn't there when he wanted to talk to him. Tyler said, "I thought that was really nice for her to say."

Angela and I get to order her graduation things today! She and I got to have a little visit Saturday. (She drove up as I was walking back from my little storage shed.) Her professor is going to get with her today on some volunteer opportunities that may gave her an idea of what she would like to do as a career, for focus on graduate studies, since her professor would really like her to do that. Angela said several times that she wants to do something that helps people.
Brittany had a lot to do yesterday, but she came to Second Sunday Supper.
Andrew playing with Daniel.
Skyler made cupcakes and brought them for one of our desserts.
Annette brought corn and got the silver ware out.
Beverly brought some lima beans and she and Beth got the table ready.
JA walked out a little bit after dinner started and Beverly was so happy to see him Beth thought that Rodney had shown up for her as a surprise.
Angela liked her birthday present. (wind chimes I bought in Florida at the Fort Pierce farmer's market) and I found out that Brittany likes wind chimes.
Kennedy made green bean casserole and spinach / artichoke dip.
Morgan took care of the rolls.
Annette said she got first dibs on Jaden because she didn't get to hold him last time.
Evan, Chelsea and Jaden were here for just a few minutes. He said he felt nauseous; Chelsea needed to get some sleep before her shift, too.
Noah gave me hugs.
Barry got all of the towels washed, dried, folded and put away. That kinda gives me a shot at having all of the laundry done by writing day. :-)
Chris got up and helped with the Saturday night dishes.
Andrew carved the turkey.

Tyler got up and off to school on time. He listens closely when I talk to him....maybe, now that I think about it, listening to me the same way that I told him I try to listen to him. We did the kitchen together last night.
The temperature has dropped just a little, just enough to let you know that we are headed into fall, just enough to let me know it is time to take Tyler and get some long pants.
Daddy's voice sounded strong yesterday.
Some of the berries on the holly bush by the pool have changed color. It is striking even from a distance, even from the kitchen window.
Beverly and JA played cards with Tyler and took him on a bicycle ride while we were gone.
Chelsea came over yesterday and brought Jaden for a little visit.
Angela sent me a Facebook message yesterday, and Monday. She got a reminder to order her graduation announcements, and that was fun.
Tori said she and Josh are going to Arkansas to go camping, and she's excited about going to a new place. There's a river for Zoey to play in, so that should be fun.
Kennedy came over a visit last night and we had a good time. She helped Papa set Cirrus XM up on his phone, which took her at least 30 minutes. He had to get logged in to his Facebook account, which was really quite a feat. When she was done she said, "Just don't ever, ever log out."
In Brittany's internship she has been working on a project with Daphne Utilities. It went into it's test phase yesterday. Her name is on the sign and everything. See FB Joy Journal for details.
Evan came over to check on Granddad. "How's the man?" he said, in case we hadn't told Tyler yet.

Beverly said, "Apparently you made Evan write a letter the other day, and something good happened because of that." He hasn't said a word about it, which I kind of miss. He was rude to his teacher, and she made him leave class. I suggested that he hand deliver a written apology. I don't know what he wrote, or how she responded.
Beth invited me to come to the bluff to watch the sun set with her and Morgan, as Morgan wanted to use it as an indicator of what time of day she would like to set the wedding. Naturally, yesterday was the one day the office ran late with payroll, but I was able to get it submitted in the nick of time and still meet them near the Fairhope pier. Then we went and had a little supper together.
Brittany sent some of the older grandbaby girls a group text re: all of them coming to Goodtimes.

No matter how crazy my day is, every time I talk to Daddy I feel happier.
I woke up at 4, which I'm not all that happy about, but I did get over here before 8, which is something that hasn't happened for a long time.
I got in some volunteer time yesterday. I did some research for MCEI, and I did some for the CAC. About two hours total, I think. I know it isn't four or five hours, but it was two, and that's a step in a happy direction.
Today is my writing day and I'm too far behind on household bookkeeping to claim it all, but I'm going to claim some of it.
Barry said he liked my little word table.
Evan called me about a situation at school. (His teacher asked him to go get something for her from the lunch room. A fellow student called him at work to say that the teacher had told her Evan had kept some of her change.) He said the things he was thinking probably weren't the things he ought to say, and that I might have some suggestions on how to handle it.
Barry is getting excited about the hiking trip he's planning with Beverly.

Shawn came in to my office last night and sat down and we talked for about half an hour, maybe longer, It was a fun visit.
Tyler went to the bee club meeting with Barry. Barry said Tyler seemed be paying close attention.
Evan and Chelsea and Jaden came for dinner last night. Evan is caught up on the class hours that he missed. Barry and I got to hold Jaden.
Shawn said that when Destiny called in the night, upset about the surgery she has to have, he was able to give her an uplift. He said he felt like a life coach, really good about himself. He said he's been looking for jobs online.
I got enough done out in the office that I don't have to go back out there today at all. The only thing I need to do is run the Daily Booked Loads Report for Monday, and I really could do that most any time this weekend. So, theoretically, this is "Fitness Friday." It is interrupted by laundry, but I'm going to put my hiking shoes on after lunch.

Getting to visit with Evan. Drivers license. Cousins.
I brought Jaden to the back porch and sat in the swing with him. I told him I used to swing Angela in the same place, although it was a different swing. After a while, Evan came and sat with us, and he and I got to have a nice little visit. I got to help him solve his driver's license problem (he didn't know he could renew online) and he was very happy to have that solved.

Barry brought my trunk over to the writing shack for me, and while he was here he put the deadbolt cover in the door. (I'm not really crazy about the pink/green combo, but I'm not offended by it, and pretty soon there will too much stuff on top of it to worry about it.)
Tyler got up on time this morning and seemed happy.
Barry and I went on a mini-road trip yesterday. We planned for it, and took advantage of a comparably quiet day to just get off the property together. We drove to the casinos, which isn't anything we really enjoy doing, but with his hurt foot, and the necessity to stay off of it, our options were pretty limited. With that in mind, we made the best of it, and he drove home via some backroads, which always has the benefit of change of scenery. It always causes me to look at life through the eyes of other people, and the homes they live in, and the jobs they have, and the futures they likely envision. It gave us a chance to be quiet together, and to talk when we wanted to.
Chelsea, Evan, and Jaden came over for dinner last night. Evan wanted us to see that Jaden gives kisses --- sitting in my rocker, Papa watching the news, me standing behind the rocker, talking to Shawn or Tyler --- all of a sudden I heard Evan say, "Nobody saw that!" as he looked up to realize none of us had seen Jaden give him a kiss.

Evan and Papa bassinette
I learned how to do date different today.
Evan and Papa putting together the bassinet for Connor.
I taught myself how to enter a formula in Google Doc spreadsheet that will calculate the date range. It took me a few minutes, and I got pretty frustrated, but I was happy when I was done.

16-08-22 (Read 6/24/26) Evan/Kennedy
Zak and cookies
Vivian and Chelsea talking
Evan ... if Kennedy needed anything, I would leave right now to help her. She has my back.
Zak was at the house when I was making brownies for July's Second Sunday Supper, and we talked about Back to School Cookie Day, and whether or not he would be able to get here that day, because of work. I asked him what day he started classes, and when I marked that on the calendar, he said, "Awwww." He called me a couple of weeks later to correct the date, sent me a text one day last week to let me know what time he would be here and the followed up by letting me know that Vivian and his friend Tragen would be with him. We stopped by the grocery store Sunday night so that I could pick up the ingredients, so I was partially prepared when Chelsea let us know that she was going to be induced Tuesday --- which just also happened to be Zak's first day of classes.
So, I sent Zak a text and asked him to call me. Told him I was looking forward to making the cookies, had the ingredients, baby being born Tuesday, trying to decide if I should make them and leave them on the counter for him, or and he interjected, "If it would be easier to make them today, we could do that." So, that's what we did. :-) Evan and Chelsea happened to be at the house when they got there, and Chelsea and Vivian ended up sitting at the table and visiting === Vivian giving Chelsea all kinds of information about getting grants and what it costs to get her CNA.
I can't remember now just how Kennedy's name came up, but Evan said, "Kennedy's got my back. And if she called me and said she needed me to come, I'd leave right now."

16-07-21 (Read 6/25/26)
Logging in has been tedious and the a/c isn't working well, but other than that the morning is rolling along pretty smoothly.
Tyler got up early and went out to work with Barry. Barry started talking to him about earning enough for a bee suit, etc., and how he could be making his own money in about three years. Tyler told me last night that he'd be up early, that he thought he'd work with Papa every other day. I have a picture of them riding on the tractor together.
Barry made a lot of progress yesterday on getting things set up for Evan and Chelsea. He had to pay $300 for permits and buy some plumbing supplies, etc., and I think we're going to move the power pole to the other side of the camper. He has plenty of work to do, but he got as much done yesterday as a person possibly could.
Beverly and Angela stopped in to "put eyes" on Barry, re: his fall. Beverly said that Angela had gotten her one year review, and that the head of human resources told Beverly it was the best review she'd ever seen. Dr. Elliot told Angela that she could work for her forever.
Kennedy had a fun even text conversation about wasps, etc. She and John are thinking about moving, and she is winding up her summer classes. She has to do a project that explains a theme in 20 images and 250 words. I told her that I hope I get to see it!
Skyler went to her first day of high school orientation yesterday. That seems a little crazy to me!
