16-03-30

Tyler, as I moved the little table, "I would have come and helped you if you had asked me."

16-03-31

Tyler saying, "Good morning,"

Shawn chatting while he was doing the dishes.

Tyler asking, "How was your day?"

Evan and Chelsea came by. (Thank you note for Granddad and Nana.)

Barry and I spent about an hour in the garden, and enjoyed it.

He came up with the idea of the two of us building the writing shack, and I like that idea.  So, I'm back on track with my writing shack.

Heard from Angela.

Kennedy and I had a nice text-chat. She said my headache wishes worked.

I fell asleep without any trouble last night.

Still making good progress in Wonderland. Started training on Maranda for three different payables tasks yesterday, and she was actually able to pay them, so she'll be able to Blue Cross and First Guard all the way to the finish line. I'm not going to authorize her to play the American Express, but if I needed her to, she could.

16-03-30

Shawn made the brownies for me last night. ~ Gene and Martha got here before I got a chance to make them, so while Shawn and I were on the doorstep, too far away for Gene and Martha to hear, I put my arms around his neck and asked if he could make the brownies for me. So sweet --- he put his arms around my neck, and said, "I think I can do that." They were perfect.

I asked Tyler to get the dishes for me early, and he didn't fuss at all but got right to it. Shawn didn't fuss either, when I asked him to help me rearrange the living room and put things back in the lazy Susan, etc.

So all was relatively calm, or more to the point, I wasn't stressed out at all.

The living room filled up, and a couple of the kids remarked there were more people here than we have at Second Sunday Supper. Beverly and Beth laughed together. Chris drove over from Fairhope. John and Kim and Noah came, and Noah and Tyler were glad to see each other. Beth and Rodney came and brought Gene some lima beans. Morgan and Brandon skipped supper and came straight to visit after their 5:30 appointment. JA's work left him alone for a minute. Lots of laughter and easy talk.

I finished the garden stakes and plan, so that's done.

Kim said that she has told them she's going to be out of town on these days, re: our trip to DC, so I'm excited now --- feels like a definite.

16-03-29

It is a pretty day.

Tyler, when I showed him the new kind of cereal I got for him; "I'll be sure to try that," and it is what he tried this morning.

He gave me his picture order package, which was fun, in that he believed me when I told him I would take care of him. He said that he was giving it to me early because if he did that, he could dress up for the pictures. I got pretty excited about that --- we can put him in his sweetheart dance clothes, because we still don't have a picture of that.

It would be fun to get both the boys dressed up and take them for pictures.

Got to text-talk to Brittany yesterday. Andrew had mentioned her winning the election, so I asked about that. She is the secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Heard from Angela. She said she had a good day.

Evan called to see about having dinner with us. He thought he'd get some steaks and marinate them and put them on the grill. He and Chelsea came, and Barry fixed some BarBQ.

Got to a really good place with the Wonderwork. Cleared almost everything out of the way except for the things that I need to do with Jashuna. I haven't looked at those things for 3 months, so it'll be a great day when that is out of the way.

The wisteria is blooming and I think it looks beautiful.

Shawn passed everything, and so did Tyler. Tyler's teachers have a space for making a comment on his progress report, and he had some very nice comments.

16-03-25

Daniel said that when he's 14 he's going to work at the skating rink, because if you work there you can skate for free. Reminded me of Barry mowing the yard to get into the movies for free.

Made some more progress delegating things in the office yesterday, and Virginia is busy training Jashuna.

Angela liked the quote I tagged her in, that Beverly put up and put on her page.

Had a little Voxer chat with Beth yesterday.

Shawn told us about his Entrepreneurship class, and how he changed the lyrics to "Ghostbusters" for their jingle, and as it was intended to do, it made people laugh.

A girl in Clay Buddies said my post was inspiring.

Kennedy and I had a little text chat. She said she's enjoying her yogurt breakfasts.

It was raining too hard to work in the garden last night.

15-03-25

She said"very inspiring."

In the Clay Buddies group, a woman re: my post on time management.

16-03-26

Even my cubby holes are not scary this morning.

It was just a great way to wake up on a Saturday morning. Wonderwork was under control. HH Bookkeeping was under control. Laundry was under control. Bathtub was clean. And then I went into my office and noticed that even the cubbyholes weren't screaming at me.

We expected a sunshiny Saturday, and had planned on getting out in the garden but it rained first thing, muddying things up too much for planting. The rain broke though, and I took my clippers to things that were kind of nagging at me.

I took a nap in my hammock.

Barry and I cleaned up the house Sunday morning, and made his juice, and I got to spend some time in the pottery barn.

16-03-28

It's just that I feel drowsy. I woke up feeling like I'd had a deep sleep, though. Woke up at 4:40 and didn't really get much rest after that. Maybe that's why the drowsy. Anyway, I started a load of towels, so we've gotten a head start on that.

The boys got off to school without any trouble, and so that was good.

I got out of the house and headed this way on time, which is good because I really need to get my workouts back in place. We've filled the living room up, so I don't really know what I'm going to do on rainy days, but I'm going to have to think of something.

Andrew came out Saturday and made some more things for their Spartan workouts. We got to visit some, and get some hugs. He helped us clean up the shop and put the plants away before the rain.

Beverly and JA made an Easter basket for us, but when I sent her a text to thank her, she said, "Wasn't me. Must have been the Easter Bunny." Tori and Josh brought it over and left it on the dining room table while we were in the pottery barn. When they told Beverly where'd they'd left it, she said, "They're going to know that the Easter Bunny couldn't get inside." Tori protested that the back door was open. Josh said every big Easter Bunny he'd seen had been magical.

Beverly seemed especially happy yesterday, and she said it was because she had all three of her girls together.

Beth, Morgan and I had a sweet time ordering Morgan's graduation announcements.

Evan and Chelsea stopped by.

I got to visit with Angela, Tori, Kennedy, Josh and John while Beverly and JA were hiding their Easter presents.

16-03-24

It is a beautiful morning, despite the predicted all-day thunderstorms. I put the birdhouse on the door, so Beverly came out to see me. We opened the door so Zoe-y could come in if she wanted to. It made it nice and fresh air breezy in here and we just relaxed and visited.

16-03-23

Had a nice Facebook email conversation with Andrew yesterday.

Heard from Tori and Morgan and Angela.

Ange said she always has fun at Second Sunday Supper.

Barry got the builder to come by re: the writing shack, and he's encouraging me to go ahead with it. With the price the builder gave us, I can't make good sense out of it anymore, but it was sweet that Barry thought I should.

Shawn hugged us good night.

Evan and Chelsea came by. They're going to stay on the houseboat for a while.

Beverly stopped in this morning for juice.

16-03-22

Tori customer appreciation award.

Tori received a customer appreciation award, which also got her a nice bonus.

16-03-22

Had a good day with Shawn

Shawn and I spent Friday afternoon job hunting ---- Theodore Dawes/Pascagoula intersection, and Tillman's corner. He didn't shy away from anything,  and by the time he got to the Dollar Tree, he was so good at it that the lady there gave him a compliment. She told him he had to be 18, because he'd be handling cash, but that he had done a good job of asking.

16-03-19

Lunch with Andrew
Politics with someone sensible.

Andrew came out to work on a weight for Annette to use in her Spartan training. He and Barry worked on it in the morning and then Andrew treated us to lunch at Taste of Thai.

He said he and Granddad had had a nice visit --- discussed politics. They were both dismayed at Trump's victories. I mentioned that Donovan was for Trump, and later Andrew said that made him think of something that Granddad had said ... that is was nice to talk politics with someone sensible.

16-03-22

Beverly hugging Evan. Second Sunday Supper. She said he gave her a big hug.

16-03-22

Beverly stopped in this morning for some juice.

Barry's blood sugar has been in normal range for the last three days.

His blood pressure has gotten two green lights for the last two days.

Shawn and Tyler did well this morning.

Hung out with Beverly last night and had a good time.

I made it through the part where I gave Maranda a head's up about all of the things that I will begin teaching her as they come up this month.

I made it through Virginia's delegation work sheet. She can't really get started on hers until she's gotten Jashuna through her things, but I started at the left of the board.

I saw shadows on the ground yesterday and looked up to see a flock of white birds, long thin necks. Maybe cranes?

Angela texted me back last night.

Angela overheard John Robert say, "I wonder how far away you have to move to get out of coming to Second Sunday Supper." She mentioned that to Beverly and said, "I don't know what I'd do if Grannie stopped having Second Sunday Supper. That's the only time I see Uncle John."

Heard from Brittany yesterday, too. She liked her Easter present.

16-03-18

Shawn started doing some of his research last night.

Barry and I planted four more rows in the garden last night.

I reconciled the business bank accounts last night.

I got an email from Daddy.

I don't have to do any laundry today.

Beth said they'll be able to stop by Sunday.

I found the suggested palettes for the color I have painted in my writing shack.

I got a good night's sleep.

Tyler's handwriting was careful with his "d's"

The azalea is in in full bloom, although it surrounds some other plants that are not. I'm going to have to think about what to do with that.

Annette had a good visit with her doctor. She has to be careful with her stretching, but other than that, she's good.

16-03-17

I don't have to wash any more laundry this week, so I won't be worried about that when Tori is in town this weekend. The tub is clean. The bathroom counter is clean. Those things usually haunt the weekend, too. I got Wednesday's Wonderland work done on Wednesday, so if I get 5 hours in today, I should be able to do month end. Friday, I'll take Shawn and we'll put in some job applications.

Delivered the HH taxes paperwork to Taylor, and tied up the loose ends. Course, this morning turns out there's another one, but it should be easy to resolve.

Tyler, being very affectionate.

Shawn sent me a text --- "I just took my US History EQT and and it was super easy. Glad you made me study the dates on the packet."

Andrew "liked" the picture I shared on Facebook --- astronaut selfie wearing Star Trek uniform.

Beverly stopped in to give me a hug this morning and I'm going to get to have lunch with her and Angela this morning.

We saw our first growth on the new potatoes in the garden, and everything else that we planted last weekend has gotten bigger. Last night we planted some more corn. It was just nice being in the garden together.

I found the lids to my coffee cups --- stashed inside a different cup. I'd started to get kinda sad about those lids.

Had a nice visit with Cindy Rentz.

16-03-16

I had to do more squiggling with the Quicken report than I would have thought, so I'm not as confident as I sometimes am, but I have everything ready to take to Taylor for our personal taxes, and I am happy about that.

Bills are paid, etc. It took me all afternoon, but my Household Administrative duties are in good shape.

The red wine is helping me sleep and I am happy about that.

Tyler and I made it through his list. He seems to pay attention when I'm talking to him.

Shawn got started on the list of things involved in planning for his future.

I got to see Beverly after work for a few minutes.

We got a sweet Thank You note from Lindsey.

I opened my office window yesterday because it was so pretty outside. Mama Cat sat in the open window for about half an hour and then decided to take the leap and go for a walk. Right about 4:30, she jumped back up on the window sill.

Azaleas are blooming.

A flower bloomed in the bulb bed that we covered up with grass.

16-03-15

When Barry mowed the back yard, he left the daisies for me.

Tyler started a dinner conversation last night --- asking me if I could do one thing differently about the day, what would it be. I don't know if that is because of what he and I talked about on doctor day --- the lack of conversation at the dinner table --- or not, but it was nice not to be the one bearing the responsibility of getting the ball rolling.

Shawn's math teacher got back with me, and he and Theresa worked on his catch up work last night.

Did I tell you that Daddy called? I keep remembering it. Always makes me happy to talk to him.

Mark called to tell me that he is sending me a print of the photo he gave Daddy and Kathi for my anniversary.

I had fun talking to John about DC, at Goodtimes.

Blue jay!

Beverly stopped in this morning for some juice, and Barry and I both got to see her.

Maranda, re: the vacation request change that she emailed me, "I just want you to know that I knew that was going to be your answer, but they wanted me to ask, so I did." I loved that she had absorbed my reasoning and knew what I would do.

I got a text from Angela. :-)

I think I already told you that I got to have a phone visit with Valerie.

16-03-13

Once you stop trying to make it a continuance of Goodtimes past, once you realize it is a different animal all together,  you settle in and enjoy the new show.
Beverly and Barry in bonsai garden.
Chris hung out for a little while.

There was a spot, around 3:16, when I checked the clock and remembered Goodtimes past ---- when dress up clothes and craft materials and toys and glitter would have been all over the house, stem to stern.

We could almost dispense with playground duty, except that I like for the aunts and uncles to give the kids some attention, and I like the kids to be here so that I can visit with them.

Barry and Beverly spent quite a while in the bonsai garden together. He used to be diving or out in the shop or something during Goodtimes, but he is around more now.

Chris came about mid-afternoon and hung out for a little while.

Chris stopped at Waffle House with Shawn and Tyler, and Tyler got permission to come on home when he was finished eating.

Faith and I got to visit some, and then we played Jenga. And then we played Jenga with John and Kennedy and Papa. I'll have to remember that she likes Jenga.

We set up to play RISK but when Tyler got here they all ran out to the fledgling tree fort. Later Michael, Daniel, Tyler, Skyler, and Noah set it up in the dining room, and you could hear them laughing and talking about it.

Barry put on "Little Big Kids," and some of us enjoyed watching that together.

Goodtimes has almost completely morphed from its original --- a time where couples knew they could have a babysitter, and where cousins could play without too much grown up interference. Half of this centuries kids are siblings, and so already spend quite a bit of time together. It is true that Tyler, Skyler, and Noah are different in the mix, and if this were the starter group I would probably be seeing it that way. Just so different from the starter group. But, more and more I am realizing that and instead of trying to keep it the same, letting it a loose to be its own new thing.

14-03-16

I don't think me and daylight savings time are going to get along. It's 5 o'clock right now,  nor 6 o'clock.

16-03-14

Tyler: "Whose idea was Daylight Savings Time, Benjamin Franklin or Issac Newton?"
"Benjamin Franklin, I think," I reply.
"I thought that's what I heard someone say, but it seemed like something Issac Newton might have thought up. 'What goes up must come down."

16-03-11

Angela called me yesterday, and so we got to have a nice phone visit.

The margins on Annette's biopsy came back clear.

Rain on my writing shack roof.

Tyler's fun this morning. He has to go get his shots, so first he thought he wasn't going to school this morning, and then he thought all of a sudden that maybe he was, so he came to check.

Tyler's doing some career research this morning, and seems ok with it. He seemed like he was listening when I explained about choosing from the pool of what we've learned via t.v. and our own lives, and how much more there is to choose from.

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Talking to Angela made me happy.

Barry mow the yard butterfly daisies for me. Barry mode mowed the yard comma How much but laugh the daisies for me. Fairy Barry mode Emma weed mowed the yard but left my daisies for me. Barry mode now eating. Barry mild. Barry mode. Barry mowed the yard but left my daisies for me.

16-03-08

Beverly called to let me know that Shawn can play one of her favorite songs on his guitar.

16-03-10

Barry and I took a nice walk out to the garden last night. Things were still green, so that was good.

I booked our hotel rooms for DC. I'm excited about our trip!

Beth had a good day at work yesterday.

Evan sent a text saying, "Hey!"

The weather is good.

I had a conversation with Derek yesterday about his 5 minute reports and dispatch and what our dispatchers quote, etc. It felt productive.

I learned more about the Prophesy reports, so we made progress there.

I didn't eat a brownie.

My first homemade yogurt turned out with a very nice texture.

I managed to calm myself down when I went into panic mode eating earlier this morning.

I helped Tyler with his hair.

16-03-09

I already have to take a US History course. (Shawn, to Beverly, as she explained the evils of the two-party system to him. "Aunt B, you just can't be that heavy with me. I already have to take a US History course.)

16-03-09

Tyler has started setting the microwave alarm when I forget to. We started talking about summer, and he mentioned getting the phone number of some of his friends.

Shawn seemed like he was in a good mood, and he ate his breakfast.

I got to have lunch with Beverly and Angela yesterday. They both seemed to be having a good work day. I got to me Lisa, one of Beverly's co-workers. Lisa was actually there with her mother, who also works with them. We were seated, and saw them as they went in. We saw them as they left, and they joshed about lunch hour being over. I said, "They're with their mama. Lunch hour's over when Mama says it is." They laughed and said that "Yep. Beverly was just like her mama." I got a kick out of that.

Angela liked her elephant.

Tori sent a text --- she had a happy day, and we're talking about planning a hike the next time she's in town.

An email message from Morgan.

Made my first batch of yogurt last night. I'm kinda tickled by how easy it was. As a side note, I won't have to drive all the way to Target for it --- just once a month or so for the starter --- and I won't be dealing with as much plastic. Just my own glass jars.

Had a nice visit with Kathi.

16-03-08

Tyler and I had fun talking this morning --- the change in the weather reminding me of a conversation we had one morning when he was in the fourth grade, about it being too cold to go to school in shorts and him explaining that it got too hot before the day was out.

Shawn ate breakfast and gave hugs, and gave us hugs last night.

I got a text from Angela.

Heard back from Brittany.

I got to see Beverly in the driveway on her way home from work last night and got another hug this morning.

Beth sent me her latest installment in her book. Such a fun thing to do together, and it makes me so happy that she is doing it.

Monday, March 7, 2016

March 7, 2016

Beverly stopped in this morning to give me a hug.

Barry and I spent the weekend together. Physically, it was a little taxing --- planting the vegetable garden and re-potting the bonsai, and I was way tireder than I would have expected. But I was very happy to be outside, and very happy for us to have spent the time working side by side, on the same projects.

Beth happyv about v work m

16-03-04

Tyler helped me make the bed this morning.

Shawn seemed like he was in a good mood, and he ate breakfast.

I had a great lunch with Katie. We just talk so easily.

I don't have to do any laundry today!!!! I am so excited about that.

I hope I'm able to get out in the yard tomorrow. I'm excited about that, too.

20 people have liked my comment in Clay Buddies, "You could give the benefit of the doubt with something like "Thank you for keeping our shared space clean. If you need any help figuring out where things go, please let us know. "

16-03-02

Tyler, after I told him that Trump had said he didn't know enough about the KKK to disavow them: "The thing that I don't get is that you learn about the KKK in social studies."

16-03-03

Well, to be honest it was a fairly regular day as far as joy things might be concerned.

Annette and I talked a little about the Easter presents.

Shawn's history teacher had some nice things to say to Shawn.

Beverly and I had a short phone conversation. She said she had a really good day.

I just --- I don't meant to tell you that I had a bad day, and all of the regular things apply. I was really, really tired though.

16-03-02

Actually just calling you to say hey!

(Tyler, to me.)

16-03-02

Barry and I got to vote yesterday, and I got to vote for the candidate that of them all, seems the most balanced to me. For the first time that I can remember, my vote in the primary actually counted.

Beth sent me another blog, so that was fun.

We went to the bonsai meeting, and that was good.

Elaine, at Halo, and I laughed together. Amber gave me a hug when she went to get her lunch.

Heather Allen yow

16-03-01

Sparrows an actual bird.

Tyler, pouring cereal into his bowl. "I wonder how many feathers it would take to make a pound." We talk about the variables. "A peacock's feather would weigh more than a sparrow's," I say. He nods, then says, "Wait! A sparrow is a little a bird?" I nod. Excited, he brings me up to speed. "There's an actual sparrow in Pokemon. Maybe they named it after the real bird."

Andrew liked a post I put on Skyler's page, about karate.

Beverly stopped by to give Papa his shot, and she visited for a minute. She seemed so happy. She'd had a good day, and they had a great time on their camp out.

Beth's day went better than she expected it to.

Shawn is eating breakfast and making his bed.
